Details of Work Parties

Want to do something positive to help the restoration? Join our regular Work Parties!

SCARS organises a Work Party to do practical work on and around the Canal. Newcomers are always welcome - just turn up at the venue given. (See details of next work party, as well as some examples of the work we do , below.)

Our Work Parties' Organiser is Colin Greenall. You can contact him on 01744 731746 or email Colin.Greenall@btopenworld.com for further information.

All volunteers are assured of a warm friendly welcome, you don't have to come for all day, just come for a couple of hours and try it.

There are a few rules that apply:

  1. Volunteers must be over 18 years of age & under 70 years of age.
  2. Steel toe capped footwear must be worn.
  3. Wear old cloths that you don't mind getting dirty or torn.
  4. We can supply work gloves, goggles and hard hats. (You can bring your own.)
  5. SCARS have all the necessary tools and equipment.
  6. Be prepared to work under supervision and abide by any rules of the site.
  7. Bring a packed lunch and hot drink.
  8. Waterproof clothing is useful if it should rain.
  9. The work won't be too hard, you just work to your own strengths.
  10. Enjoy it.
