Details of Work Parties
Want to do something positive to help the restoration? Join our regular
Work Parties!
SCARS organises a Work Party to do practical work on and around the
Canal. Newcomers are always welcome - just turn up at the venue given. (See details of next work party, as well as some examples of the work we do , below.)
Our Work Parties' Organiser is Colin Greenall. You can contact him on
01744 731746 or email Colin.Greenall@btopenworld.com for further
information.
All volunteers are assured of a warm friendly welcome, you don't have
to
come for all day, just come for a couple of hours and try it.
There are a few rules that apply:
- Volunteers must be over 18 years of age & under 70 years of age.
- Steel toe capped footwear must be worn.
- Wear old cloths that you don't mind getting dirty or torn.
- We can supply work gloves, goggles and hard hats.
(You can bring your own.)
- SCARS have all the necessary tools and equipment.
- Be prepared to work under supervision and abide by any rules of the
site.
- Bring a packed lunch and hot drink.
- Waterproof clothing is useful if it should rain.
- The work won't be too hard, you just work to your own strengths.
- Enjoy it.
