Hey Lock, looking North over the top gates, above, and South over the bottom gates, below. Both taken in June 1968.

The lock has been filled in, and tests in 2000 showed the infill is so contaminated that it would require a specialist disposal site. This thwarted a proposal to restore the lock. The canal is still in water on both sides of the lock, and is a renowned fishery.
