The Carr Stanley or Stanley Mill Contour CanalAndy Screen has confirmed that the previously circulated information about the Carr Stanley Canal/Stanley Mill Contour Canal has been sent to Roger Cragg at the Panel for Historical Engineering Works (PHEW). Following the 'request for particulars' from the Waterways History Research Group no further information has been forthcoming, so what we have already provided greatly added to the knowledge that seems to be available about this waterway. We have been assured that that what has been sent to Roger has been properly attributed to those who supplied it. Liverpool - Manchester Railway Medallions
Whilst visiting Bob Lyall to photograph the brass Pass (see this page), I also photographed the Commemorative Medal for the opening of the Railway which he has. We knew of this Medal - it features on our 2007 Calendar, but it was good to get shots of both sides. A later Internet search revealed another one which was struck for the opening. This one features the Newton viaduct and George Stephenson, and seems to be in brass. Does anyone have one of these?
