Among Warrington Library's treasures is a small book of thirty charming watercolours mainly illustrating a walk up the Sankey Valley in 1825, painted by Robert Booth. These two examples of his work show, above, sailing flats at Sankey Bridges. The swing bridge across the canal is visible, as are the chimneys of the lime-kilns beside the canal. Below we have his impression of Bewsey Old Hall and a barge approaching the upper lock gates of Bewsey Lock.
