Sales Team by Cynthia Greenall

We finished last year with a rather dilapidated sales caravan so the first task of 2006 was to find a replacement and hopefully a rather better bargain than the last one. Letters were sent to various caravan firms appealing for help. Campbells Caravans at Preston contacted us and offered a special deal on a used van. After a couple of visits we eventually settled on a Buccaneer Elan, and were very pleased with the price and the help we got from the salesmen there. We're grateful to Mr Adam Hulme, Sales Director, for arranging a generous deal.

Later we discovered it had been given an excellent review in one of the caravan magazines. It looks a bit dated but was reckoned as still a class act, well preserved, a true classic etc, etc.

The first outing for the new caravan (above) was at Easter when we visited the IWA's National Trailboat Festival on the Northern Reaches of the Lancaster Canal. The event was well organised but poorly supported, our takings equalled one very good day and interest was minimal, apart from the St. Helens visitors on site. But we enjoyed the weekend. It gave us time to test the van, review the stock (below) - plenty of totally uninteresting stuff... so we'd be grateful for fresh stock of bric-a-brac, if our Members could search some out..., and to walk the bits of the canal which are in water. The weekend also raised a few points to think about if we ever consider organising a similar Trailboat Rally on the Sankey.
