From the Editor, Dave Smallshaw

I was pleased to hear that we had received some good feedback from our last issue of Cuttings. It does prove that some of you do read the material provided and that it still holds the interest factor. Judging from the welter of contributions I received in response to my pleas for material I was beginning to doubt whether anyone was out there!

We were particularly pleased recently to receive a letter from W. J. Brinksman of Warrington who provided us with some interesting snippets of information about his early experiences on and around the waterway. You’ll find that on page 19.

Peter Keen’s reports of newly-uncovered photographs (see pages 15-18) were also very welcome additions to our Archive of information about the Sankey.  I hope we will see more in the future.

May I also wish you all every happiness and success in the coming year and hope to hear from, or meet up with as many of you as possible very soon.
