Canal Leak at Carter House Bridge

Some time in July a leak appeared in the canal beneath Carterhouse Bridge, this necessitated dewatering the short section of canal under the bridge whilst the leak was repaired.

It is understood that the leak was the result of a collapsed culvert beneath the canal.

It has now been repaired and the section put back in water.

The photographs show (above): Carterhouse Bridge and the canal prior to dewatering, and (right): the dewatered section with balancing pipe to retain water levels below the bridge. Below, the canal back in water.
