Launch of the Warrington Parks & Green Space Forum Committee

In the absence of our elected member to this forum (Andrew Screen) I went along to represent the society.

At 4.30 on Tuesday 29th July a number of people representing each group involved in the project assembled on the lawn in front of Warrington Town hall, this was to be used as a photo shoot to launch the forum.

Each committee member brought along an object to represent their particular interest, these ranged from a football, a rugby ball, a set of bowls, a canoe with helmet and paddle, fishing equipment, a bicycle, tripod and binoculars , with the bereavement group being representing by their religious member in his cassock holding a wreath. I went along holding a lock windlass.

Photographs were taken by the Warrington Guardian and the Mercury and then the heavens opened, giving us all a good drenching at which point we retired to the Town hall for some light refreshment.

During the refreshments I had the opportunity to speak with David Stamp about how we would like to see the waterways of Warrington developed and we also received praise from Councillor Dr. Robert Barr OBE for our excellent publication "Canal Cuttings".
