Hugh Potter's Album, Part 3

Two more views taken by the Editor of NarrowBoat magazine from the early days of his career.

On the left, taken in August 1972, is a view of the Old Double Locks at Parr, taken with the quoin for the bottom gates in the foreground. The lock has yet to suffer being 'restored' in the landscaping work carried out to create Sankey Valley Park from about 1974.

Below is the best view we have of Engine Lock at Haydock, which has now disappeared from view. Having now seen this shot it would seem that the lock became obscured by the Sankey Valley Park landscaping work done after Hugh took this in June 1968. Finding it again might be difficult.
