Above is a view of Blackbrook Basin, the northernmost terminus of the Sankey when it was first built. Below, the upper gates of the Old Double Locks, showing services pipes which have simply been run through the chambers. In the distance is the chimney of Southport Pit. Both were taken in June 1968.
