Structures onthe Sankey

In June SCARS’ Working Parties set about doing their bit to maintain the appearance of the structures of the Sankey. Top: The turning-area of the relief swing bridge at Sankey Bridges was cleared to enable the bridge to be turned. Bottom: The stonework of the Sankey’s locks is impressive, and is best seen at the dried-out Bewsey Lock, to which we return periodically to clear away the vegetation which hides its features.
