Welcome Aboard to Johnny Vegas

St. Helens' award-winning comedian Johnny Vegas has agreed to become a President of SCARS.

We are very pleased that he said "Yes" when asked to take on the role by Cllr. Pat Robinson, a member of our Executive.

We are looking forward to involving Johnny in the activities of the Society whenever he is in town. From what I've seen of him on the television he's a hard man to ignore and will be a great asset in drawing attention to the Sankey and our drive towards restoring and extending the Canal. He also has an infectious sense of humour, which should make anything he comes along to a good laugh, too.

Signing up Johnny Vegas is part of SCARS' strategy to raise the profile of our restoration efforts. British Waterway's Regional Director, Derek Cochrane, recently asked his Marketing and PR Manager, Lynn Pegler, to help us draw up a strategy to achieve that aim.
