Canal Cuttings - the SCARS Newsletter
Volume 5, Number 4 - Spring 2003

Above: Boosted by members of the North West Waterway Recovery Group, the monthly SCARS' Work Party returned to their newest site, Newton Common Lock on Sunday, April 6th.

As with all successful campaigns, the physical needs of the troops are given a high priority - as the ten-gallon water-heater testifies.

Now that the lock has been uncovered, the next stage is to make the site presentable for visitors and passers-by. Infill is cleared away to allow for gravel to be spread between the chamber walls.
