Winwick Dry Dock

The Repair Works complex at Winwick is the most extensive historic site along the Sankey. The Dry Dock escaped infilling in the 1970s, and our Work Party revisits it regularly to keep it free from weeds so that it looks as it did when in use. Occasionally a high tide and heavy rainfall cause a flow back up its drainage channel which feeds into the Sankey Brook, and we can get an impression of how it looked when being made ready for a flat to enter for maintenance (see index page). More on this site inside.
