Canal Cuttings - the SCARS Newsletter
Volume 5, Number 1 - Spring 2002

A SCARS Work Party show their dedication on a wet March day at Alder Lane, Burtonwood. Centre: Bill Highcock, with the divining rods he has successfully used to show the location of the side walls of the Canal. The Work Party were then able to reveal them so that walkers and riders would know they were beside an in-filled section of the Sankey as they enjoyed their use of the Sankey Valley Park, which here acts as a spur of the Trans-Pennine Trail, joining its main line along the Mersey at Sankey Bridges.

On Sunday, September 15th, the Ranger Services and SCARS are joining forces for a Guided Sponsored Walk along the Canal during National Heritage Week - see inside for more details.
