Sankey Festival Update

We’ve had a mixed start to our Festival. The Drama we commissioned from St. Helens College went down very well during its initial run, and is now set for another series of performances.
The Drama is based on the history of the Sankey, illustrating some of its effects on the local community through the experiences of a lock keeper’s family.
During their first Tour, the students performed for Schools in St. Helens, and were very well received.
During its second Tour we will be reaching other audiences in the area.

As far as the trip boat is concerned, as we go to press this delayed aspect of the Festival is finally coming together, after we experienced unforeseen difficulties with our launch vehicle.
However, there is a long summer ahead of us, and we expect to begin to get out and about along the Canal in the very near future.
In the meantime, fresh Information Packs and Displays are being prepared to accompany the boat, and to advertise the Festival at local Shows and Waterways Events in the region. We would welcome further opportunities to use the boat and to put on displays about the Canal, and would encourage SCARS’ Members to get involved whenever possible.
