Gift Aid Scheme

SCARS is taking advantage of the new Gift Aid Scheme which was announced by the Government in the March 2000 budget. Until now the "Covenant" system whereby Charities could reclaim the tax paid on Subscriptions and Donations was quite complicated. The "Gift Aid" system is far easier to administer, and allows us to reclaim 28p for each £1 which taxpayers give us. Most taxpayers will qualify so long as the amount they pay in Income Tax and / or Capital Gains Tax is at least equal to the amount of tax SCARS reclaims on the donation.

A declaration form was enclosed with your 2001 membership renewal and we are grateful to those who completed their forms - a claim for nearly £150 tax is being submitted. No renewals are necessary and the declaration can be cancelled at any time simply by notifying SCARS. Further forms are available for those who may wish to make donations during the current tax year.
