SCARS Publications

We are very pleased to be able to announce the publication of our Tow Path Leaflets and Towpath Guide Book. Both have been completely revised to reflect the many changes which have taken place along the line of the Sankey in the past decade.

Tow Path Leaflets

After a full revision, they have been printed to a high standard by DDP Offset Ltd. of Knowsley Industrial Park North. Partners in Regeneration (incl. St Helens MBC), Warrington and Halton Borough Councils, Mersey Basin Campaign, and North West Water have sponsored this revised publication. SCARS is grateful to them for their support, without which the project could not have been undertaken.

There are eight leaflets, forming a set which cover the line of the Canal. The first gives a brief outline of the whole length, with the other seven describing shorter sections in greater detail. The complete set costs just £1, which represents very good value.

The Tow Path Guide Book

The same printing company have produced this revised publication. The text has been brought up to date, and the photographs have been replaced to show contemporary, rather than historic, views to help the walker identify the route with greater ease, and the route plans have been redrawn in colour. A full page photograph of the canal features on the cover. The price is £3.50p.

Both leaflets and guide book will be available from distributors throughout the three Boroughs, including the main libraries in each. St. Helens Town Hall Reception will also have stocks, as will the Warrington Information Centre. Other outlets are being arranged, and we will announce them here. They are also, of course, available by post.
