WEAVER NAVIGATION SOCIETY - news via the Internet

Our Chairman recently received the following email, which members will find interesting.

Hello David,

You may not remember me, my name is Daniel Cross and I was a member of SCARS for a few years. I am now a member of the River Weaver Navigation Society and have been given the grand title of Social Secretary.

We have just begun hosting a Winter Season of talks based on the River Weaver. The first was on Wednesday, October 24th, when we were addressed by Carl Leckey, former Lockkeeper from Dutton Locks. It was entitled "An Introduction To The Weaver".

To our amazement, 58 people attended which was just the kind of start we needed. Our two remaining talks this season are: "Wildlife photography in the Weaver Valley" by locally based photographer, Andy Harmer (23rd January) and "Weaver Flats and Flatmen" by Mike Stammers (20th March).

They are at the "Pear Tree" at 7.30 pm. I hope you will forward these details to your members.

As we have always said, the Sankey and the Weaver have a lot in common.
