Our Millennium Festival celebrations came to an end just before Christmas at St. Patrick’s Club, Earlestown - just a few hundred yards up the hill from the Sankey at Newton Common.
As a final celebration we held a Hot Pot Supper with waterways entertainers Jeff Dennison and Benny Graham providing a show with slides and music illustrating the folk history of our canal system, and the reversal in our waterways fortunes shown by their increasing popularity as a leisure amenity. Entitled “They’re Coming Back to the Water”, the show provided a highly entertaining evening for all who came. Our thanks to Neil Forshaw and St. Patrick’s for welcoming us to their club.
