Restoration Round Up

Hulme Lock

Work restarted at Hulme Lock on September after a break of two months. During this time, the vegetation and grass have been kept in check by courtesy of Warrington Borough Council's Parks Department.

Our first task was to construct a safe access road onto the cottage site from the by-wash channel. This was done to allow the dumpers to work more efficiently. Then it was just a matter of loading and carting away the infill.

A plus to our day's work was the visit of the son and daughter of Mr and Mrs Moorfield, the last occupiers of the cottage. They told us many stories and interesting facts about the cottage and the time they lived there; but that's a story for another issue of CUTTINGS.

Further work parties are planned for October and November. For more information contact me on 01744 731746.
