New Local MPs have SCARS Connections

Congratulations to Helen Southworth on her election as Member of Parliament for South Warrington. Also to Dave Watts, the new MP for St. Helens North.

Helen joined SCARS last year. Dave, as Leader of St Helens MBC, took part in the sponsored walk, heavily encouraged by his dog. The Sankey Canal is now recorded in Hansard as being the first industrial canal, thanks to Helen in her maiden speech in the House of Commons.

In accordance with a past SCARS Executive resolution, all the MPs along the line of the Sankey have been asked to accept Honorary Membership of the Society.
