Book Reviews

Two books have recently been released which will be of interest to railway or canal enthusiasts, and to people in the Widnes, Warrington and St. Helens areas. Both are compiled by Bob Pixton and produced at £9.99 each by the Chalford Publishing Company. The books are in the Publishing Companies' Archive Photograph series.

The first is titled "Widnes and St. Helens Railways", and includes references, maps and photographs relating to Sankey Navigation; together with plenty of information of local interest.

The second has the title "Warrington Railways". It includes pictures of the Sankey Viaduct with the canal passing below, also views around Winwick Junction and Winwick Quay which catch glimpses of the canal. An excellent record is provided of a transport system which sadly no longer exists.

Both books are well produced with clear photographs and informative text.
