"Waterways World" Visit
To mark the 250th Anniversary of the Sankey, WATERWAYS WORLD, the country's foremost waterways magazine sent its former Editor, Hugh Potter, to visit the canal and to write a feature on it. You can read it in the current issue of the magazine. It was not Hugh's first visit to the Sankey. He has sent us copies of photographs he took on visits in 1968 and 1972. The view above of the bascule bridge carrying Liverpool Road over the canal at Sankey Bridges is from June 1968.
The Inland Waterways Preservation Society, led by Andy Screen (above, at Winwick Dry Dock) walked the canal in February 2006.
